Synopsis: “You’re an addiction I can’t overcome, no matter how hard I try.” – Rook Tyler

His life consists of his best friend, Jack Daniels, his favorite drug of choice and women. Rook Tyler lives for performing at night and wasting the rest of his days washing away the pain from his childhood so he doesn’t have to feel anything...ever. The only people he trusts are his band mates from Shattered Souls and he wants to keep it that way. His life was completely under control and simple until he heard the voice of Maisy Madison filter through The Tavern speakers.

Growing up in the foster care system with her two other band mates from Twisted Perfection, Maisy finds herself doing pretty much anything to get her and her band noticed but nothing seems to be working. One lucky night, Shattered Souls, the most popular band in the country, decides to show up at their little concert and luckily signs them on the spot. But the arena venues and massive amount of fans isn’t what has Maisy shaking in her heels. It’s the deep baritone voice of Rook Tyler that has haunted her dreams for years which has her wondering if she can actually go through with the tour.

The force is almost too strong. He can feel her everywhere he goes and no matter how much he tries to resist her, he finds himself gravitating towards Maisy, wanting to hold her, kiss her and touch her. He knows he shouldn’t get involved. He knows no matter what, he will end up hurting her but he can’t help it, his soul is connected to hers and the pull is too strong for him to resist.
Rook warned her time and time again but she doesn’t listen, she doesn’t want to listen. She needs him and she doesn’t care that she knows deep down in her heart that their relationship is going to end in disaster. She refuses to acknowledge that no matter what they do, their love is toxic.

What I Thought:

I'm not sure whether I want to hug Meghan Quinn or grab her and shake her by the shoulders and demand to know when the second book in this series will be available.  If we ever meet, chances are I'll do neither but simply ask her where she gets her ideas from and what she's currently working on.  Oh and there'd definitely by picture taking and book signing going on too.  I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this.

All it took to get me interested and hooked was reading the blurb and looking at that gorgeous cover.  This book immediately went onto all my reading and wish lists.  So you can imagine my happiness when I started reading it.  My initial impression was it was going to focus on solely on Rook and Maisy, and a huge chunk of the book did.  However the book also focused on both Maisy and Rook's band mates.  Boy was it interesting to see the dynamic of both Shattered Souls and Twisted Perfection change as both bands were crammed onto a single bus while they toured.

I loved the drama in this book even when I was torn between decisions band members made regarding their love lives.  There was no slowing down at all.  The story went from one peak to another.   I especially wanted Maisy and Rook to find away to put all their personal baggage aside and work things out with each other, but every time I thought they had it figured out, someone did something to mess it up again and they were back at square 1.

This book ends on a cliffhanger, well a couple of cliffhangers since there were multiple story arcs, hence the demanding to know when the second book will be available.  Besides some insta-love/insta-attraction that bothered me for a couple of seconds, this book was near about perfect for me.  I was entertained, emotionally involved, and not happy to put this book down once it was finished. I am beyond eager to find out what's going on with everyone.

About the Author

meghan quinnWhen I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn’t take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch, besides “The Notebook” I made time to read the heartbreaking novel.

It wasn’t until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books, I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven’t turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

I am currently residing in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.
