Rating: ★★★★★ stars
Date published: October 27th, 2015

Synopsis: Amelia London is America's sweetheart. Noah Sloan is America's bad boy. Both are former child stars and once were lovers. When they are cast as the leads in the upcoming erotic suspense blockbuster—Sinners Like Us—they are forced to come to terms with the issues that tore them apart to begin with.

As the whole world watches, can they keep their secrets hidden? After all, everybody is a sinner…

What I Thought:

It's wonderful when a book catches you off guard. This first part of the Child Star serialized novel comes in at just under a hundred pages but packs a huge punch. You wouldn't think a lot could happen in that many pages but for Noah Sloan and Amelia London, their lives changed completely and I fell in love with them.

I've always loved second chance romances, but I found this one to be triply exciting. First of all I was excited to see how J.J. McAvoy would add her spin to it. Secondly it had one of my favorite tropes (second chance romance), and lastly it featured two very tortured celebrities who were obviously not finished with each other no matter the facade the portrayed. Noah and Amelia tried valiantly to fight the need they felt for one another.

This first part does a wonderful job at showing Noah and Amelia's combined pasts as well as showcasing their continued current undeniable chemistry. The scenes where they are stripped bare to each other figuratively are as revealing as when they are unclothed. It's hot, exciting, and shrouded in mystery. What tore them apart? Why can't Amelia let go of it years later?  When a possible reason for both their heartbreaks was revealed, I was devastated and horrified.

I was hooked from the first page to the last. I ended the book in shock and absolutely can not wait for the next installment. I'm already counting down the days to when I can get more Noah and Amelia and find out what happens next.
