What I Thought:

I fell in love with Fiona in Neanderthal Seeks Human, the first book in the Knitting in the City Series. That Fiona is older and wiser than the Fiona I got to meet in Ninja at First Sight, but I loved getting to know younger Fiona too! And finally meeting (and swooning over) Greg her future husband.

The Ninja at First Sight Fiona is a fresh faced, but determined soul. She's looking to find out who she is and what she wants, but is also more likely to stay in and do her homework than go to a party being held on campus. Fiona wants to break out but doesn't quite know how. I loved how intelligent Fiona was and even her perspective on things she didn't know much about, like female friendship or friendship in general. I loved how she was an optimist and had such a strong sense of self for someone so young. I really liked how she was able to outwardly keep control of herself when being around Greg turned her insides (and mine) too goo.

Greg is older than Fiona and much more worldly. He's seen and experienced aspects of life most people never do. He's jaded, but there's something about the way he is with Fiona that totally did it for me. It's like he was able to recognize Fiona isn't like everyone else he's going to college with, one of the mindless masses, but I felt like he recognized she has faced battles of her own and come out changed. Yes he's an alpha and he makes it clear he wants Fiona. Greg also doesn't play games, but then again neither does Fiona.

Fiona and Greg don't have chemistry, they have alchemy. The sparks that fly between the two of them are blazing hot and I loved seeing them with each other. Those two have more than just physical attraction going for them. I absolutely loved seeing them exchange opinions and ideas. While this novella is over a hundred pages and even includes the first chapter of Fiona and Greg's full length book, Happily Ever Ninja, it wasn't enough for me. I'm already hoping Penny Reid will surprise us (keep your fingers crossed) and release the book really early. I loved seeing how the couple Fiona and Greg came about, and I can't wait to read about them as adults...married, with mortgages, and maybe even kids. If there's anyone who can make adult and married life interesting, funny, sexy, and smart, it's Penny Reid.

About the Author
Author-Photo-Penny-Reid-300x300SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing). By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.
